964 Rear fan feedback adapter

This product is for use Porsche 964 or 993 vehicles with a missing rear electric fan, and plugs into the rear fan relay socket. It contains a simple circuit that mimics the operation of both speeds of the rear fan and thus avoids any problems with the CCU feedback detection, independently of the CCU or car version.

The Climate Control Unit (CCU) supervises the rear fan with a feedback wire from the fan motor. The CCU will switch off (or set minimum speed) the two front main blowers if the rear fan does not respond when needed. This is an inbuilt failsafe mechanism in the CCU to avoid sucking exhaust fumes to the cabin. It is possible to install a simple wire bridge in the relay socket to set the feedback voltage to 12V, but the first generation 964 Climate Control Units  (64 659 04x 00 ending with 00) will not accept such a wire bridge to keep the front blowers working.

Removing or disabling the rear fan will impact the cabin heating and reduce the engine cooling, and we never recommend removing the rear fan.

We often see weight considerations as reason for removing the rear fan assembly, but a diet plan would probably have way more effect on the overall weight of the car than removing the rear fan. However, if you insist, here's the solution to keep the ventilation fans working as they should.
